About Marc

Marc Spilker is the Executive Chairman of Merchant Investment Management LLC and a Founding Member of GPS Investment Partners LLC. From 2010 to 2014, Mr. Spilker was President of Apollo Global Management and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. In 2010, prior to joining Apollo, Mr. Spilker retired from Goldman Sachs following a 20-year career with the firm. At Goldman, he served as co-head of the Investment Management Division (IMD) and was a member of the firmwide Management Committee.

Mr. Spilker serves on the Third Way Board of Trustees, where he is the Founder of Third Way’s Capital Markets Initiative and Chair of the Board’s Investment Committee. He is also a Partner of Maxim Capital Group where he is a Member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. In addition, Mr. Spilker is a Board Member of New 42, a Founding Member of the East Hampton Village Foundation’s Police, Fire and EMS Council and a Member of The Council of 100 division of the Palm Beach Police and Fire Foundation.

Mr. Spilker previously was the Chairman of Chiron Investment Management LLC, he served on the Investment Advisory Committee at Google and was a Member of the American Stock Exchange and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. He also served on the Board of Directors of BrokerTec, Bondbook LLC, Treville Capital Group (formerly CoVenture), Future Standard (formerly FS Investments), the Philadelphia Stock Exchange and the Stone and Bridge Street Funds. Additionally, he served on the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Undergraduate Executive Board and on the Advisory Boards for Mount Sinai’s Institute for Genomics and Multiscale Biology and The Samuel Bronfman Department of Medicine at the Ichan School of Medicine (formerly Mount Sinai School of Medicine). Mr. Spilker was the former Chairman of the RFK Leadership Council at the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, a Founding Member of the K3 Council at the Japan Society and served on the Advisory Council of Social Finance, Inc.

Mr. Spilker received the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award in 2010, the Wharton Alumni Award for Distinguished Service in 2016, and the Marian Heiskell Award from The New 42nd Street in 2020. He was honored at the AIPAC Wall Street Dinner in 2013. As a committed supporter of independent public affairs documentaries, he has provided funding for four prime time PBS specials, all of which received critical acclaim and numerous awards. These films include the following: Anti-Semitism in the 21st Century: The Resurgence (PBS 2007), Jerusalem: Center of the World (PBS, 2009), The Jewish Journey: America (PBS, 2015) and Viral: Antisemitism in Four Mutations (PBS, 2020). Mr. Spilker also supported an independently produced documentary short about the life of pianist Byron Janis and a five-part media series for New 42.

Mr. Spilker graduated with a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
