Clayton Chandler

CHIEF DATA OFFICER

Clayton Chandler is a Managing Director and Chief Data Officer at Merchant, where he leads the firm’s enterprise data and AI strategy. He oversees data infrastructure, governance, analytics, and the responsible use of AI, ensuring data is leveraged as a strategic asset across Merchant and its ecosystem of partner firms.

In this role, Clayton is accountable for how data is produced, consumed, and applied to support decision-making, advisor workflows, and scalable growth. He also leads Merchant’s AI initiatives, focused on improving productivity while maintaining strong governance and risk controls.

Prior to joining Merchant, Clayton served as Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Osaic. He joined the firm in 2021 and played a key role in supporting significant organic and inorganic growth, helping build one of the world’s largest independent broker-dealers, with more than $800 billion in assets and over 10,000 advisors.

Earlier in his career, Clayton held senior leadership roles at Credit Suisse, including Chief Data Scientist and Chief Information Security Officer, where he led global teams across data and security initiatives. He also served in multiple roles at the U.S. National Security Agency, including Technical Director of High-Performance Data Analytics.

Clayton holds a PhD in Computational Analysis and Modeling from Louisiana Tech University. He resides in New York City with his family.
